More amazing work by our design gurus at Team Eight and Triple Stamp Press. Beautiful new TRG business cards. We are truly blessed to have, in my opinion, a group of the most talented and creative people in Richmond on our team. Go follow them:

New Intern: Jacob Eveland

image

I’m Jacob Eveland; a communication arts major at VCU.  I’ve had the good fortune to be welcomed into the outstanding world of Team Eight as an intern. I have a great appreciation for innovation and originality which is exactly what I’ve found working with them. I was inspired to know that all of the members of Team Eight attended VCU; one of them completed my major. It’s great to see that they are using their degrees to really produce a valuable service to the Richmond area. This is a goal of my own, to produce art/advertising that has a positive impact on society. For this reason I feel a lot of commonality with the members of Team Eight. They made me feel welcome from the onset of my internship and treated me as one of their peers. I really respect the manner in which they run their business. It’s in alignment with my priorities when working for a client on a commission. The fact that they respected me enough to let me work on a client’s order is a compliment that has really made me feel like part of the team. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship. It’s an experience that will certainly benefit me throughout my career.

We had a really nice First Friday opening at Books, Bikes, and Beyond last weekend. Here are a couple pictures. The show will be up until September 30th, so if you’re in the area, come check it out… maybe buy a poster…

The horror of hands! Our two most recent poster illustration projects both feature epic metacarpi. The first was for SunnO))) and their show at Strange Matter in Richmond (tonight!). The second was for Rise Records and The Acacia Strain’s new album “Death Is The Only Mortal.” The top designs are the finals for print and the bottom row are the alternates we made. More to come…

We had the pleasure of designing and printing tour posters for legendary post punk outfit Mission of Burma. 3 color print on French Nightshift Blue. Edition of 100. You can pick one up from their merch table or online here. Their new album Unsound is out now and the tour starts Friday Sept 7th.

Hilda’s summer internship project is complete!  She designed and printed this poster for the Mason Brothers’ and Exebelle and the Rusted Cavalcade’s upcoming show on August 17th.  The type and illustration were hand drawn to play on the home-grown and folky sounds of the bands.

Here’s a look at the poster we made for Of Montreal’s stop at the National next week. We tried to collect a variety of characters from their live performances and put them in a landscape inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delight. The text is our take on the font used on Pink Floyd’s Animals. Add the Dr Seuss -esque color scheme and you’ve got a pretty fun print!

Black Dice conjure up strange sonic experiments that often build to sensory overload, so we wanted to do a poster that was as bizarre and fun as the music. Inspired by the collage style art the band has championed since its inception, this poster started out as an odd drawing and evolved into the 3 color, fluorescent black light poster you see now. If you’re in the DC area, come out to the show Thurs May 24th at U Street Music Hall and pick one up. If not, you can get one online here.

Lots of nice little details in this poster we did for Active Child, who had a great performance in DC with Balam Acab and Superhumanoids. Matt drew a harp and a statue, so it was great to see both the harp and a pair of statues up on the stage during the show. You can buy one here.

The LP packaging for Anduin’s Stolen Years album is now printed and assembled, which means we’ve finally completed this project! We used all the same images from the CD packaging, but instead of eight double sided cards, there are two double sided posters. You can order one here. You can listen to it here. You can look at all of our work on this project here.
