More on our top secret project the Rogue Gentlemen. Here’s some screenshots and hand drawn assets for their website, currently functioning as the hub of the game. Print and digital clues are periodically released that provide access to different tidbits of information and eventually a chance to get invites to the exclusive soft opening. Our top secret project finally revealed. We’ve been working feverishly since last August on this cocktail bar’s everything: identity, website, interior, and a slew of print materials. It all fits into a drawn out game of sorts, each piece a clue leading at first to more information about the project and eventually the chance to win tickets to the exclusive soft opening coming up in late spring. Hi i’m Jacob Eveland and I did the design for this bandana. This ornamental style of work is based off of a series I have been working on the past few years. While interning with Team Eight I thought I would take advantage of being able to print with Triple Stamp Press. The work came out great and I can’t wait to print more with them in the future.

The two new desks we built for our office are almost finished. Birch faced ply centers set in poplar edges. All assembled, glued, screwed and sanded up. Just need to stain, sand, seal, sand, and seal again… Been working on these for like six months between everything. Thanks Jacob and Seth for helping wrap them up.

New Intern: Jacob Eveland

I’m Jacob Eveland; a communication arts major at VCU. I’ve had the good fortune to be welcomed into the outstanding world of Team Eight as an intern. I have a great appreciation for innovation and originality which is exactly what I’ve found working with them. I was inspired to know that all of the members of Team Eight attended VCU; one of them completed my major. It’s great to see that they are using their degrees to really produce a valuable service to the Richmond area. This is a goal of my own, to produce art/advertising that has a positive impact on society. For this reason I feel a lot of commonality with the members of Team Eight. They made me feel welcome from the onset of my internship and treated me as one of their peers. I really respect the manner in which they run their business. It’s in alignment with my priorities when working for a client on a commission. The fact that they respected me enough to let me work on a client’s order is a compliment that has really made me feel like part of the team. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship. It’s an experience that will certainly benefit me throughout my career.

These vegetated surfaces don’t just look pretty. They have other benefits as well, including cooling city blocks, reducing loud noises, and improving a building’s energy efficiency.What’s more, a recent modeling study shows that green walls can potentially reduce large amounts of air pollution in what’s called a “street canyon,” or the corridor between tall buildings.

For the study, Thomas Pugh, a biogeochemist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, and his colleagues created a computer model of a green wall with generic vegetation in a Western European city. Then they recorded chemical reactions based on a variety of factors, such as wind speed and building placement.

The simulation revealed a clear pattern: A green wall in a street canyon trapped or absorbed large amounts of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter—both pollutants harmful to people, said Pugh. Compared with reducing emissions from cars, little attention has been focused on how to trap or take up more of the pollutants, added Pugh, whose study was published last year in the journal Environmental Science & Technology.
